OKRA is a collective of black multidisciplinary artists founded in 2020. The collective aims to create collaborative practices to strengthen and support BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities. OKRA is committed to creating festive spaces that are sensitive to different forms of discrimination and are committed to highlighting artists who are in alignment with their values. The collective organises numerous parties and events throughout Switzerland, which act as spaces for community, connection and networking. In a short period of time, they have managed to establish a large network of BIPoC artists on a national and international level. One of their core values is to be intentional in their collaborations and to translate this approach into the creation and curation of spaces.

For this Dj set Afia and Apinti will take over the decks! Apinti mainly plays a high-energy Afrodiasporic sound that aims to create spaces where community and solitude can exist side by side. The music that was played in Afia's childhood home is probably the biggest influence in her song selection. She wants people to dance and connect through the music she plays, which ranges from upbeat electronic music, afro-influenced sounds, funky tunes, R&B, hip-hop and a lot of remixes. All the music she plays has a touch of soul aka blackness in some way or another and should make you want to shake that booty !

This Dj set takes place as part of the curation of Zagaza. Zagaza is a laboratory and collective of Afrodescendant artists in the French speaking part of Switzerland that extends its artistic universe to black conscious art.
