Okro is a fluid space for parties formed by a team of DJs. Okro's ultimate goal is to become a lifestyle and party culture reference for people who are not represented in the current club culture and also to be a laboratory of diasporic and African sounds in the creative field.
Okro is a vegetable found in many African countries (Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Angola...). It was brought to continents like north and south America by African slaves. For many years, in countries like the United States, it was considered a food for the lower classes. It is a vegetable that unites and celebrates Africa and its diaspora in the North. Hence the name of this space and its main vision: to use African electronic music as a union and resistance through pleasure, celebration and collective creation by black bodies.
This Dj set takes place as part of the curation of Zagaza. Zagaza is a laboratory and collective of Afrodescendant artists in the French speaking part of Switzerland that extends its artistic universe to black conscious art.
